Councils

ConnexFM Councils support FM industry verticals and unique communities of interest within ConnexFM.  The council objectives support the ConnexFM mission and directives of the respective ConnexFM Council Leadership Team. Each council is an elite network within our exclusive ConnexFM membership whose purpose is to be consultative. The councils will seek direction from leadership and partner with leadership on education, events, resources and networking while facilitating the growth in the specific facilities vertical.

Committees

ConnexFM committees are a big part of the association success as they support the strategic direction of the association. While serving on a Committee or Task Force is voluntary, ConnexFM’s committees do serious work requiring you to be engaged skills to accomplish the committee’s task and goals. Committee terms run from January – December and the term length for serving on a ConnexFM Committee is three-years. Committee meetings occur via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or onsite during a ConnexFM event. The estimated time commitment while serving on a ConnexFM Committee is 1-2 hours per month.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (DEI)
At ConnexFM, we believe the power of diversity, equity and inclusion are crucial to the growth of our association, collective businesses and the FM industry as a whole. We will promote a diverse membership base and bolster the connection and collaboration of individuals and businesses with various backgrounds, experiences and beliefs to advance the ConnexFM Community with tools, resources, and education. Membership Committee
The Member Engagement Committee is responsible for advocating, defining, and leading membership outreach programs. It advises staff in developing policies and strategies that further the growth and retention through existing and prospective markets and building awareness of ConnexFM. The committee will provide guidance in directing and encouraging involvement and value-added programs/services. The committee will support ConnexFM's strategic plan and initiatives.

Thought Leadership Committee
The Thought Leadership Committee is tasked with developing quality educational resources to address relevant issues facing multi-site facilities management professionals. The goal of this committee is to meet the needs of the membership, raising the standards within the facilities management industry, and deliver content in different formats: benchmarking, white papers, tools and templates, practical approaches, on-demand courses, and webinars.

Supplier Relations Committee
The Supplier Relations Committee’s charge is to convene an appointed group to advise ConnexFM on programs, resources and events that will benefit all members.

Women in Action Committee (WIA)
The Women in Action Committee supports the advancement and introduction of women into the facilities management industry through giving back, professional development and networking. Participation in the Women in Action committee will give individuals the opportunity to work towards increasing the benefits of ConnexFM membership for women across the facilities management industry.

Young Professionals Committee (YP)
The needs of young professionals differ from those of experienced veterans. Young professionals wish to receive guidance and career advice as they navigate through the facilities management industry. The objective of the ConnexFM Young Professionals Committee is to focus on the needs of those who are in the early stages of their career paths. Also, the committee will focus on developing programs and benefits that are valuable to those advancing in their career and to provide a social and professional support network for this important segment of ConnexFM members.

Environmental, Social & Governance Committee (ESG)
The Environmental Social and Governance Committee (“ESG Committee”) purpose is to support the Association's on-going commitment to environmental, health and safety, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, sustainability, and other public policy matters relevant to the membership at large. Through collaboration of individuals and businesses with various backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs, we will develop and enhance the ConnexFM Community with tools, resources, and education. View ESG Landing Page

Ethics
The Ethics Committee works to ensure that the Association’s Ethics Policy is current and abided by the membership. The committee may recommend grievance actions and policy changes to the Board as it deems necessary. Matters concerning ethics questions or actions by the membership will be addressed by the committee. Other matters may come to the committee first and will be forwarded to the ConnexFM Board for consideration and approval.

Apprenticeship Committee (ConnexFM Foundation)
The Apprenticeship Committee supports industry apprenticeship programs provided by ConnexFM member organizations. Programs help recruit, train, and retain talent in the skilled labor workforce. View ConnexFM Foundation Website

Nominating
This committee’s purpose is to generate nominations for the Board of Directors, to maintain a strong and effective board. The members meet frequently during the last quarter of each fiscal year. Service on this committee is by invitation only. The Nominating Committee is chaired by the Board of Directors’ Vice Chair.

The knowledge and time that you share during the committee meetings and activities is our most valuable resource. Connex’s committees do serious work. You will be asked to use your skills to accomplish the committee’s task and goals.

  • Time commitment can be from 9 months to 12 months depending on committee.
  • Teleconference calls may be held for an hour once a month.
  • Face to face committee meetings may be held at National and Mid-Year Conference.
  • Assignments may be assigned with an average of 1-2 hours a month.

Program/Operating Committees

Program/Operating Committees shape the member services and programs offered by Connex.  You can make a valuable contribution to these committees by sharing your knowledge and industry expertise. 

The Benchmarking Committee's purpose is to identify common benchmarking data standards used by retail facilities management. This information will be analyzed, organized and published to retail and vendor members within the retail facility maintenance industry for adoption. The committee will identify distribution channels for the benchmarking data to the general membership.

The Best Practices Committee's purpose is to identify best practices within the retail facility maintenance industry and to use existing distribution channels for the information it collects to reach the general membership. The committee is responsible for utilizing the content from the Retailer2Retailer Best Practices Forums and other resources to identify current industry topics/business practices and convey that information to the members. The committee compiles and verifies practices, and organizes the content for book publication as it reviews topics for submission as white papers, mini best practices, and other online resources for use by the membership.

The Conference Committee is charged to work with member feedback to prioritize and create actionable and measurable changes to Connex events to increase attendance, satisfaction, retention and engagement. The Conference Committee contains an education focused sub-committee to identify and recommend topics/support recruitment of SME/Moderators for scheduled events for the term of the commitment.

The Editorial Board’s purpose is to identify current topics and trends of interest to the membership for coverage in the Professional Retail Store Maintenance magazine. The committee identifies Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and writers for each issue.

The Ethics Committee works to ensure that the Association’s Ethics Policy is current and abided by the membership. The Global Committee’s purpose is to identify and develop programs to assist members who are doing business in international markets. It will also assist members with solutions enabling them to network and identify quality local and international suppliers to support the retail brand.

The Networking committee’s purpose is to encourage members to network and make professional relationships enabling experienced retail facility maintenance management to share their expertise, industry knowledge and practical experience with other Connex members and serve as networking event hosts in their respective area of the country.

The Sourcing Committee educates retail members on how to effectively source retail facilities related services and products by developing strategic sourcing solutions, enabling them to recognize greater cost savings while improving quality of service and developing KPIs. It also educates suppliers on how to collaborate with retail sourcing professionals and to be actively engaged during the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase and other ancillary steps in the vetting, purchasing and onboarding processes. This group may develop tools and content for the Connexus magazine, white papers, mini best practices, and website resources as well as content for educational programs to support this initiative.

The Supplier Relations Committee’s charge is to convene an appointed group to advise Connex on programs and events that will enable Corporate Supplier member to market their services effectively to the retail market. This program consists of a 365-day approach emphasizing the value of Connex membership. It will also educate vendors on appropriate methods for doing business with other members to build stronger partnerships.

Governing Committees have influence on the association’s governance and fiscal matters.  These committees are directly accountable to the Connex Board of Directors. Other governing committees are: Member Advisory, Executive Compensation and Governance.

This committee has the fiduciary responsibility of overseeing the fiscal welfare of the Association. It review the association’s financial records and issues an annual report to the membership. The Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer. Service on this committee is by invitation only.
